NECA have announced that they will release an action figure called Gentleman Caller Claptrap, a dapper version of the robot from Borderlands, in mid-December.
The 7-inch tall figure is modeled to look like the ’bot when he’s running the bank, hence his top hat, cufflinks (and cuffs), monocle, and mustache.
Freddy and Jason are teaming up again, but no, not in another movie.
NECA have announced that they’ll release a pair of retro-style action figures for Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare On Elm Street movies and Jason Voorhees from the Friday The 13th flicks.
Both the Freddy and Jason figures will be 8-inches tall, and will have clothing that’s actually made of fabric, just like similar toys were back in the 1970s.
Diamond Select Toys will be releasing the first series of Tomb Raider Minimates next week and, in honor of this, they’ve issued new pictures of what I can only assume is them vacationing on some tropical island.
There will be 12 figures in all, with different sets of two available in different stores.
One collection, which pairs Roth…
with Storm Guard General…
will be only available only online, at comic book stores, or at specialty toy shops, as will the two-fer of Sun Queen…
and Father Mattias (who apparently missed the vacay).
Similarly, the pack with the Scavenger (who also missed this trip) and the and Scavenger Archer…
will only be sold at Toys “R” Us, as will the one with Storm Guard (also not pictured) and Storm Guard Stalker.
Meanwhile, the collections with Lara…
and Scavenger Scout…
will available everywhere, as will the pairing of Battle Damaged Lara Croft and Armored Scavenger. Who are seen here reenacting a scene from Othello.
Regardless of where you buy them, all of the Tomb Raider Minimates will retail for $9.99 each.
Toy makers Funko and Super7 have announced that they will collaborate on a series of toys dubbed ReAction Figures, which they’ll launch in late November with a series of retro-style Alien action figures.
Originally revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, these 3 ¾-inch tall Alien toys are supposedly based on designs for ones that were originally designed when the movie came out in 1979, but were never manufactured, and will even come in vintage-looking packaging.
The series includes the titular star, who has a removable transparent dome, a glow-in-the-dark head, and extendable jaws; Ripley and Dallas, both of whom come with flame throwers; Ash, who has the motion detector; and Kane, who’s in his space suit, which has a removable helmet.
All of the Alien figures will have 4 points of articulation. Or maybe 5. It’s hard to tell from the pictures if their heads move.
According to the press release, Alien figures are just the first of “several licenses to be announced soon.”
No pricing has been announced yet, and the figures aren’t yet available for preordering on Amazon, Funko’s website, or Super7’s, but we’d assume they’ll cost more in November of 2013 than they would’ve in November 1979.
Shout! Factory have announced that Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising will be released on DVD and in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack on October 8.
Funko have announced that they will release the second series of Adventure Time POP! Vinyl figures on September 28.
According to the press release, “This line includes several characters suggested by FANS! Thanks fans.”
Funko have anounced that they will release five Pop! vinyl action figures based on characters from the ’toon Regular Show on September 26.
Created by J.G. Quintel, Regular Show follows the adventures of a Blue Jay named Mordecai (voiced by Quintel) and a racoon named Rigby who work as groundskeepers at a local park. It airs Monday nights at 7:30 (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network.
Along with Mordecai (figure #47)
and Ridgby (46),
Funko are also releasing Pop! figures of such Regular Show favorites as Benson (48),
Skips (49),
and Muscleman (50).
While no price was officially announced, Amazon currently has all five Regular Show figures available for preoder for $11.99 each.
NECA have announced that they will release the fourth series of their Gremlins Mogwai action figures this November.
