Thief Video Game Review

Stealing is wrong. Whether you shoplift a candy bar from the corner store, nick a handful of quarters off your dad’s bureau, or download a pirated copy of a new video game, being a thief is not cool. And if you don’t believe me, just play Thief, a deeply flawed and ultimately dull first-person stealth action game for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC in which you make your living by stealing anything that isn’t nailed down.

“Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition” Review

When the new Tomb Raider was first released in March of 2013, it was rightfully hailed as the year’s first great game. Now, nearly a year later, an updated edition dubbed Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with spiffy new visuals and all of the original’s added content thrown in. But while it makes this great game look even better, is that enough to warrant an upgrade?

EXCLUSIVE REVIEW: Zen Pinball 2 For PlayStation 4

Having already brought their physical realistic but mechanically impossible pinball tables to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Vita, the good people at Zen Studios are now going next-gen with Zen Pinball 2 for the PlayStation 4. And while it doesn’t include total graphic upgrade like some fans might’ve hoped, these tables are just as much fun as they were on those other systems.

EXCLUSIVE GAME REVIEW: Tiny Brains

Tiny Brains may have most misleading name of any game in recent memory. Sure, it’s catchy, and clearly made for sequel-izing (Tinier Brains, Tiny Brains II: More Brainier…), but the fact remains that this downloadable, physics-based puzzling platformer for the PlayStation 4 requires you to have something better than a tiny brain if you want any hope of succeeding.

Exclusive Interview: “Call Of Duty Ghosts” Writer Stephen Gaghan

For Call Of Duty Ghosts (Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, WiiU, PC), Activision hired writer/director Stephen Gaghan — who penned Steven Soderbergh’s 2000 movie Traffic and both wrote and directed 2005’s Syriana — to help with the campaign’s story. With the game done and out the door, I spoke to Mr. Gaghan about how he got the gig, how he feels about the way stories are told in games, and how he feels about the game’s critically-maligned ending. As a result…

Killzone Shadow Fall Review

Killzone Shadow Fall (PlayStation 4) is a beautiful and accomplished dystopian sci-fi first-person shooter that really shows off what the new PlayStation 4 can do.

But it also, sadly, has a number of issues, including some obvious and easily avoided mistakes, as well as a problem that’s so prevalent lately that I really fear it will be a hallmark of this new generation.

Exclusive Interview: PlayStation 4 Developers On Their Favorite PS4 Games

The PlayStation 4 features games from some of the best developers working today. But these people don’t just make games, they play them as well. Which is why, at the PlayStation 4 review event that Sony held at New York City’s Standard Highline Hotel, I asked many of the developers in attendance the same question:

What PlayStation 4 launch or launch window game are you most looking forward to?

Exclusive Iinterview: “Call Of Duty Ghosts” Executive Producer Mark Rubin

In many ways, Call Of Duty: Ghost — which Activision is releasing on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, WiiU, and PC — isn’t just a new game, it’s also a new beginning, as it’s the first non-sequel in this series  since 2008’s World At War.

It was with this in mind that I spoke to Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin, the game’s Executive Producer, at a recent event where journalists were given an opportunity to play the game so we could review it for our respective outlets (look for mine in an upcoming issue of @gamer). As a result…
