One of the problems with such video game-inspired movies as Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life and the Resident Evil flicks is that they usually just pay lip service to the original games. But the CGI animated Heavenly Sword movie — based on the 2007 game of the same name, and being released on Blu-ray and DVD by Cinedigm — goes so far in the other direction that it ends up being little more than a curious artifact.

A couple days ago I wrote a piece with the self-explanatory title “5 Pinball Tables I’d Like To See For Pinball FX 2 & Zen Pinball 2 (But Probably Never Will).”
Now, in the interest of fairness, I present this piece about the five tables I’d like to see for FarSight Studios’ Pinball Arcade, which is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita.
Except that since FarSight don’t make original tables for Pinball Arcade, but instead recreate real ones that were originally built by Bally, Williams, Stern, and other real pinball machine manufacturers, I decided to put a slightly different spin on things.
Since it would be easy for FarSight to get the rights to one of the original tables from Bally and their brethren, I kept my list to pinball tables that weren’t wholly original, but were instead based on movies, TV shows, and rock bands.
For the last couple years, the good people at Zen Studios have spent countless hours designing tables for their Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball 2 games that are based on Star Wars and Marvel Comics. But while they’ve obviously got more in the works — including, most likely, ones based the upcoming Star Wars cartoon Rebels, the movie Star Wars Episode VII, and the Ant Man film — I thought it would be fun to think about what other tables I’d like to play…and why I’ll probably never have the chance.
The Walking Dead adventure game by Telltale is arguably one of the most engaging adventure games of the last few years. But what would’ve made that emotionally gripping game even better is if there had been a metal ball flying around the whole time, knocking into things.
After the success of the really difficult platformer Super Meat Boy, it’s no surprise that other game developers would follow suit. But while the upcoming Fenix Rage — which Green Lava is making for PCs, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 — may be tough, and is made of platforms, in talking to executive producer Ted Lange as I played the game, it seems that this isn’t just Exceptional Fish Girl.
Since 1962, nearly every spy movie, book, game, and comic has been influenced by the James Bond movies. And often for the better. Just consider CounterSpy, a smart, stylish, and ultimately supremely fun side-scrolling shooter for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita that’s like an interactive version of a Bond movie’s opening credits.
Metro Redux Review
In recent months, there’s been a number of next-gen remakes of previous gen games that only upgrade the graphics, add in the add-ons, and that’s basically it (I’m looking at you, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and The Last Of Us Remastered). But with Metro Redux, 4A games are bringing truly improved versions of their post-apocalyptic sci-fi shooters Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
With endless and addictive action, the original version of the fantasy role-playing game Diablo III was already a great game. But with the new Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition, Blizzard are not only bringing an expanded and improved version to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the first time, but to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well.
With the release of Pinball FX2 for Xbox One, Zen Studios have finally brought their pinball program to every game system that matters. But unlike other system transitions they’ve made recently, Pinball FX2 for Xbox One isn’t just a slightly better looking version of an earlier model.
