After a handful of failed attempts, the good people at MercurySteam — with a little help from Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima — finally figured out how to successfully adapt the 2D side-scroller Castlevania series into a 3D game with 2010’s Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow. Now M.S., sans Kojima, are hoping to replicate that game’s fun factor with Castlevania: Lords Of Shadows 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. But while it does misfire way more than its predecessor, it’s still a solid action game.

With the release of Game Of Thrones: The Complete Third Season as a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack, the latest installments in HBO’s faithful adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy novels is finally available in a convenient, take-home package. Well, yes, yes there is.

It’s funny, but in a way, Richard A. Knack’s novel World Of Warcraft: Dawn Of The Aspects (paperback) may be his most Warcraft-ian book to date. And we’re talking about a guy who’s written nearly a dozen of them. But it’s not because of the story he tells in it, but rather because it was originally released in installments on the Internet like DLC.
With all five parts now being collected in a single volume from Gallery Books, Knaak made himself available to talk about how this book came to be, how playing the game inspires him, and his other non-Warcraft fantasy novels.
HBO and Funko have announced that seven POP! Vinyl action figures based on characters from the HBO show Game Of Thrones will be released on January 15, with an eighth coming February 18th.
Sixteen months. That’s how long it took Blizzard to do a console version of their hack & slash action game, Diablo III. Which may be small potatoes when you consider it took them twelve years to make this sequel to 2000’s Diablo II in the first place, but still, taking sixteen months to do bring a PC game to consoles — where, it could be argued, it should’ve been all along — that’s a long time to wait.
But now that it’s finally available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with a PS4 edition due out next year, it’s hard not to think that if there was any sequel worth waiting sixteen months for, let alone a dozen years, this would be it.
