One month after releasing the first Batman: The Animated Series movie, Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, on Blu-ray, Warner Brothers are following it up with the latest spin-off from that ‘toon, Batman And Harley Quinn, which is available on Blu-ray/DVD/digital combo pack; 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray/Blu-ray/digital combo pack, DVD, and in a limited edition gift set that pairs the Blu-ray/DVD/digital combo pack with a 4″-tall Harley Quinn toy. But while Batman And Harley Quinn may not be as good as Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, or as strongly connected and aligned with Batman: The Animated Series, it’s still a worthy addition to any Bat-fans collection.

Like Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice before it, Suicide Squad was a comic book adaptation that got some things right but most things wrong. So it’s fitting that the Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, and DVD of the Suicide Squad Extended Cut — which includes both the original and a longer version of the film as well as a compliment of extras — would be equally uneven.
Every time HBO Home Video releases the latest season of Game Of Thrones on Blu-ray and DVD, I get a thrill rewatching the episodes as they were meant to be seen, enjoy the special features, and then lament that some of the latter aren’t set up correctly or aren’t where they should be, and why are some are left off the DVD version? Not surprisingly, that’s exactly how I feel about Game Of Thrones The Complete Sixth Season (Blu-ray, DVD). Well, except for that one other huge mistake they made this time around.
When it began thirteen years ago, The Venture Bros. was an offbeat parody of such adventure cartoons as Scooby-Doo, G.I. Joe, and Johnny Quest, with some Fantastic Four, James Bond, and Henry Kissinger references thrown in for good measure.
But in the years since, this surreal ‘toon has managed to create its own mythology, one that continues to poke fun at cartoons, movies, TV, comics, and all kinds of good stuff, but it does so by creating unique and often intricate stories.
All of which, and more, is on full display in The Venture Bros. Season 6 Blu-ray and DVD, which is clearly (pun intended) the best way to watch this hilariously weird show.
Since it kicked off in earnest with 2008’s Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has largely done a great job bringing the Marvel Comics characters to the big screen. At the same time, the good people at Disney Home Video have also done a good job of bringing those movies to Blu-ray and DVD. So it should come as no surprise that the Captain America Civil War Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack are as good as the movie it presents. That the DVD edition just has the movie, though…
Before he made The Incredibles and Ratatouille, director Brad Bird put together a little movie called The Iron Giant that, in the years since, has become a cult classic for animation fans of all ages. And now — thanks to the Iron Giant Signature Edition Blu-ray, DVD, and Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, which marks the first time this film has been available in high-def — those animation fans can finally enjoy this wonderful movie is all of its glory. And then some.
After doing the show for nearly two decades, it’s not surprising that South Park‘s co-creators, writers, and voice actors Matt Stone and Trey Parker would do something different for their nineteenth season. But it’s also interesting that, in many ways, they’ve also done something different with the South Park The Complete Nineteenth Season Blu-ray and DVD.
While such cable dramas as The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad strive for relative realism, network dramas like The Blacklist and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. seem to be going more for escapism. Take the action movie-esque Blindspot, which isn’t just unrealistic, but unapologetically so. But whether you’re a fan or just someone looking for a cryptic good time, the Blindspot The Complete First Season Blu-ray and DVD is the best way to watch this gripping thriller.
Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice was not the grand slam that either DC Comics or their fans were hoping from the second chapter in DC’s cinematic universe. But for those who did enjoy the movie, the Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice Ultimate Edition (Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, DVD) is, for the most part, a good way to experience it again, as it not only includes tons of extras, but also has both the original and an interesting longer cut of the movie.
