GAME & MOVIE NEWS: Need For Speed Movie Pics Released

DreamWorks have issued a pair of images from the upcoming Need For Speed movie, which, of course, is based on the long-running video game series.

In this first picture, we see Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) who plays Tobey Marshall, and rapper Kid Cudi, who plays Scott Mescudi. In the film, Marshall is a mechanic who’s trying to save his struggling garage, where both and Mescudi build muscle cars, which they race on the side.

In the other pic, we see their co-stars, Dominic Cooper (Captain America: First Avenger), who plays Dino, and Dakota Johnson (the upcoming 50 Shades Of Gray adaptation).

Along with the images, DreamWorks also issued the following plot summary:

“The story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country race against time — one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. In a last attempt to save his struggling garage, blue-collar mechanic Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul) — who with his team skillfully builds and races muscle cars on the side — reluctantly partners with wealthy, arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). Just as a major sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save the business, a disastrous, unsanctioned race results in Dino framing Tobey for manslaughter.

“Two years later and fresh out of prison, Tobey is set on revenge with plans to take down Dino in the high-stakes De Leon race—the Super Bowl of underground racing. To get there in time, Tobey must run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet, dodging cops coast-to-coast and dealing with fallout from a dangerous bounty Dino put on his car. With his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia as allies, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.”

The movie is being directed by Scott Waugh, who previously co-driected Act Of Valor, and was co-written by George Nolfi (Ocean’s Twelve) and John Gatins.

While a trailer for the film has not been released, EA did show this behind-the-scenes video a few months ago during E3.

Need For Speed is due to hit theaters on March 14, while the new game, Need For Speed: Rivals, will be released on the PlayStation 4 on November 15, the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 19, and the Xbox One on November 22.
