The Walking Dead The Complete Seventh Season Blu-ray, DVD Review

Like most serial dramas, the zombie survival show The Walking Dead has had its good seasons and its bad. But one thing that’s been constant is that the show’s seasonal Blu-rays and DVDs have presented the show as was meant to be seen: with clean picture and tons of extras. And the same can be said about the newest one, The Walking Dead The Complete Seventh Season (Blu-ray, DVD). It’s just too bad it presents one of the bad seasons.

The Blindspot The Complete Second Season Blu-ray, DVD Review

Like The Blacklist, Designated Survivor, and The Last Ship, the TV show Blindspot is a ridiculous, unrealistic, and over-the-top action show that’s like a weekly version of a big dumb action movie. Which is what makes it so much fun. Though what also makes the Blindspot The Complete Second Season Blu-ray and DVD so much fun is that it augments this explosive season with informative and interesting extras.

Ghost In The Shell Blu-ray, DVD Review

We all know that box office receipts are not a good way to determine if a movie is good or bad. The problem is that if a movie does badly at the box office, the studio making the film’s Blu-rays and DVDs will skimp on the extras. Which, sadly, is the case with Ghost In The Shell (Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, 3D Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, 4K Ultra HD, DVD), the cyberpunk action flick that has its fans — myself included — but not enough box office clout to warrant the extras-packed discs its fans want.

“Kong: Skull Island” Blu-ray, DVD Review

In 1962, two of the biggest movie stars in the world went mano-a-mano in the classic monster movie King Kong Vs. Godzilla. With shared universes all the rage these days (thanks Avengers), the people behind 2014’s Godzilla have taken the next step to reuniting these two titans with Kong Skull Island (Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, a 3D Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, DVD), the second film in the MonsterVerse series that will also include 2019’s Godzilla: King Of Monsters before 2020’s rematch, Godzilla Vs. King Kong. It’s just too bad Kong: Skull Island is less like the epic Iron Man and more like the just-okay Ant-Man.

South Park The Complete Twentieth Season Blu-ray, DVD Review

These days, the only reason to buy a TV show on Blu-ray or DVD is if you’re old school (like me) or you like the extras. So I have some good news, and some bad news, for fans of South Park and physical media: While the South Park The Complete Twentieth Season Blu-ray and DVD do have some good special features, they could’ve been presented better.

The LEGO Batman Movie Blu-ray, DVD Review

Like The LEGO Movie from which it was spawned, The LEGO Batman Movie is a weird and clever stop-motion animated movie that’s like the Robot Chicken DC Comics episodes if that show had a bigger budget, a longer runtime, and was made for all-ages. Well, maybe not that good. But if you enjoyed The LEGO Batman Movie when you saw it in theaters, you’ll like it just as much at home, whether you get the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, the 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, or even the DVD, as they all come packed with fun extras that include even more of The Dork Knight.

John Wick Chapter 2 Blu-ray, DVD Review

Thanks to some wild action conducted by a sympathetic character with perfect aim and acute situational awareness, 2014’s John Wick was not only one of the best real-world action movies — i.e. not sci-fi, not comic book — since 1997’s Airforce One, it was also the most clever and stylish assassin flick since 1994’s The Professional. But while John Wick Chapter 2 is almost its equal, and the movie’s Blu-ray Combo Pack and 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack do the film justice, the DVD edition comes up a bit short.

The Last Ship The Complete Third Season Blu-ray, DVD Review

With tons of shooting, explosions, and people running after their shooting causes something to explode, the TV show The Last Ship has always felt like a really long action movie that’s been broken into smaller parts. Which is just one of the reasons why the best way to watch the latest episodes of this gripping action show is on the The Last Ship The Complete Third Season, which is out now on Blu-ray and DVD.

Rogue One A Star Wars Story Blu-ray, DVD Review

While most people follow the Star Wars story through the movies, the saga has also been told through novels, comics, cartoons, and video games. But while the two are often kept at arm’s length, the newest movie Rogue One A Star Wars Story — which is now available on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and DVD — is actually an exciting and engaging Star Wars movie that tells a story that would normally have been reserved for a book, graphic novel, or game. Too bad the Blu-ray and DVD aren’t as good as the movie.
