Exclusive Interview: “Chaos Terminal” Author Mur Lafferty

It’s been said that in space, no one can hear you scream. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do it, especially if you’re being…murdered.

The good thing is, if you are being murdered, it may be because you’re a character in one of Mur Lafferty’s Midsolar Murders novels. In the following email interview, Lafferty discusses this series, as well as its newest installment, Chaos Terminal (paperback, Kindle, audiobook).

Exclusive Interview: “Other Minds” Author Eliane Boey

For her first book, Other Minds (paperback), writer Eliane Boey has paired two of her novellas: the psychological sci-fi horror story Carrier, and the cyberpunk sci-fi mystery Signal \ Tracer. But while she says both take place in the same fictional universe as some of her short stories and a novelette, this is not, as I wondered, the birth of the Boeyverse.

In the following email interview, Ogden discusses what inspired and influenced this plausibly futuristic story.

Exclusive Interview: “Fit For The Gods” Editors Jenn Northington & S. Zainab Williams

Back in 2021, when the world was young, Jenn Northington co-edited a short story anthology called Sword Stone Table: Old Legends, New Voices, in which contemporary writers put their own spin on the legends of King Arthur and the Knights Of The Round Table. But in her new anthology, Fit For The Gods: Greek Mythology Reimagined (paperback, Kindle, audiobook), Northington and co-editor S. Zainab Williams have gone one step further, assembling a collection of gender-bent, queered, race-bent, and inclusive versions of those classic Greek tales. In the following email interview, Jenn and S. discuss why they took this approach, how this collection came together, and what influence Jenn’s work on Sword had on Gods…and S.

Note: All answers are from both Jenn and S. unless otherwise indicated.

The path for literary adaptions usually goes book to movie or book to TV show, or maybe book to movie to video game. Unless, of course, you’re Willie Block and Jake Emanuel, the co-authors of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller mystery The Edge Of Sleep, which went from podcast to TV show to novel (available in hardcover, Kindle, or audiobook). In the following email interview, Willie and Jake discuss what originally inspired and influenced this story, and how the print edition of this story is different from the one you already heard or saw.
