Like the Steelbook editions of The Complete First Season, The Complete Second Season, and the new The Complete Third Season (my review of which you can read here), the Game Of Thrones The Complete Fourth Season Collector’s Edition Steelbook Blu-ray is, obviously, not worth buying if you already own the previous Blu-ray edition. Even though it does have a cool Knights Watch magnet. But if you don’t own this season on Blu-ray, well, then you’re in luck, because this collection does a mostly great job of presenting these ten episodes.

Let’s get the obvious question out of the way: If you already own Game Of Thrones The Complete Third Season on Blu-ray, there’s no reason to buy the new Game Of Thrones The Complete Third Season Collector’s Edition Steelbook Blu-ray. With the exception of a House Frey sigil magnet, and smaller packaging, this new edition is basically the same as the old one. But if you love the show and don’t own the third season, or don’t own it on Blu-ray, this is the version to get.
Given how so few director’s cuts are improvements, or all that different, and given how the second or third versions of movies of Blu-ray often don’t add anything you need, it’s understandable why you’d look at the Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan Director’s Cut Blu-ray with some suspicion. But while this Blu-ray may not be worth getting if you own the previous editions (though it might be), for those who don’t own this classic Star Trek movie on Blu-ray, this is clearly the edition to get.
With the sixth season of Game Of Thrones set to premiere April 24th on HBO, it might be a good time to refresh your memory or get caught up by watching the previous season. And hey, how’s this for coincidence: the Game Of Thrones The Complete Fifth Season is now out on Blu-ray and DVD. Even cooler, this collection not only presents the show as it was meant to be seen, but it has a ton of great extras, especially if you get the Blu-ray.
Last December, when Anchor Bay released Fear The Walking Dead The Complete First Season on Blu-ray and DVD, both versions were pretty bare bones. Well, now there’s the Fear The Walking Dead The Complete First Season Special Edition Blu-ray and DVD, and while these new editions have extras that should’ve been included on the originals, they’re far from perfect.
While people insist that size doesn’t matter, we all know it does. Just consider The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit movies, the extended versions of which have all been better than their shorter, theatrical counterparts. And that’s once again the case with The Hobbit The Battle Of The Five Armies Extended Edition, which is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, and 3D Blu-ray.
As a new show coming into an existing fictional universe, it’s not surprising that the first season of Fear The Walking Dead, the prequel spin-off of The Walking Dead, wouldn’t be as good as the latest episodes of its big brother. But that doesn’t explain why the Fear The Walking Dead The Complete First Season Blu-ray and DVD is so lacking as well. And not just compared to the most recent Walking Dead seasonal set, but to The Walking Dead The Complete Season One as well.
Ant-Man Blu-ray, DVD Review
Though he’s often had his own comic book, Ant-Man — much like Thor before him — has always worked better as a member of The Avengers than he has on his own. So it’s rather fitting that the Ant-Man movie would — much like Thor and Thor: The Dark World before it — be an interesting flick, but not anywhere as good as The Avengers or The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Or that the same could be said about its Blu-ray, Blu-ray/3D Blu-ray combo pack, and especially its DVD.
