Scream Factory have announced that they will release the ’80s cult horror classic Motel Hell in a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on August 12th.
In the movie, a farmer named Vincent Smith (played by Rory Calhoun) and his sister Ida (Nancy Parsons) run the Motel Hello while also making and selling meat products. But when a woman gets into a motorcycle accident nearby, and the Smiths take her in to take care of her, the biker finds out where the couple actually get their meat. (Hint: It’s not Pathmark.)
Along with the movie, the Motel Hell: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack includes a new commentary by director Kevin Connor; a making-of featurette called “It Takes All Kinds: The Making Of Motel Hell,” which has interviews with Connor, actor Marc Silver, and writers/producers Robert Jaffee and Steven Charles Jaffe; a second new featurette called “Shooting Old School” with cinematographer Thomas Del Ruth; the original trailer, photo galleries, as well as the previously released interviews with actor Paul Linke (called “Another Head On The Chopping Block”) and actor Rosanne Katon (called “From Glamour To Gore”), and a look back at Ida called “Ida, Be Thy Name.”
In addition, the package comes with reversible art so you can pick between the original theatrical poster or a new but retro-style cover image.
The Motel Hell: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack is currently available for pre-ordering from Amazon for $26.94.
