Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced that Elysium will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and through digital services on December 17.
The sci-fi movie — my review of which can be read here — stars Matt Damon as a construction worker in a world where the rich live in a fancy space station and the rest live in squalor on Earth’s surface.
Both the DVD and Blu-ray editions will include a digital copy of the movie along with the making-of featurettes “Collaboration: Crafting The Performances in Elysium,” which is said to let viewers “Meet the dynamic cast and get insight into how they prepared for their roles,” and “Engineering Utopia: Creating a Society in the Sky,” which the press release describes as “A look at designing and creating the utopian space station.”
In addition, the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack also adds an extended scene, an interactive look at the design called “Visions Of 2154,” the self-explanatory featurette “The Technology Of 2154,” a look at the effects called “In Support Of Story: The Visual Effects Of Elysium,” as well as “The Journey To Elysium,” a three-part making-of series that covers pre-production, production, and post-production.
Both editions are currently available for pre-ordering from Amazon, with the DVD listed for $21.99 while the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack is $28.99.
