BLU-RAY NEWS: Blazing Saddles: 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Announced

Warner Home Entertainment have announced that they will release a 40th Anniversary edition Blu-ray of Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles on May 6th.

Blazing Saddles

Released in 1974, this parody of Westerns stars Harvey Korman (The Carol Burnett Show) as a crooked politician who tries to drive people out of a small town so he can buy the land for cheap. To do this, he hires Cleavon Little to be the Sherriff, thinking that the townsfolk won’t take kindly to have a black man in a position of authority.

Needless to say, some racially-charged hilarity ensues.

Along with the movie, the Blazing Saddles: 40th Anniversary Blu-ray will also include a commentary by Brooks, deleted scenes, the original trailer, a cast and crew reunion called “Back In The Saddle,” a new featuette with Brooks called “Blaze Of Glory: Mel Brooks’ Wild, Wild West,” and the pilot episode of “Black Bart,” a proposed series that would’ve starred Lou Gossett Jr. as Bart and Steve Landesberg as his drunk sidekick.

The Blazing Saddles: 40th Anniversary Blu-ray is currently available for pre-ordering from Amazon for $17.49.
