Fox Home Video have announced that they will release the Young Frankenstein 40th Anniversary Blu-ray on September 9th.
Written by Gene Wilder (The Woman In Red) and Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles), and directed by Brooks, 1974’s Young Frankenstein was a parody of the old Universal monster movies that starred Wilder, Terri Garr (Close Encounters Of The Third Kind), Madeline Kahn (High Anxiety), Peter Boyle (Everybody Loves Raymond), Cloris Leechman (The Last Picture Show), and Marty Feldman (Silent Movie).
Young Frankenstein is currently ranked #13 on the American Film Institutes’s 100 Funniest Films list.
Aside from being a hilarious film and a spot-on parody, Young Frankenstein is also infamously known for inspiring Aerosmith’s classic song “Walk This Way.”
As for the Young Frankenstein 40th Anniversary Blu-ray, along with the movie, this collection will also include deleted scenes and outtakes; a commentary by Brooks; interviews with Feldman, Leechman, and Wilder; four featurettes titled “Inside The Lab: Secret Formulas To The Making Of Young Frankenstein,” “It’s Alive: Creating A Monster Classic,” “Making FrakenSense Of Young Frankenstein,” and “Transylvanian Lullaby: The Music Of John Norris”; production photo galleries; and other extras to be detailed later.
In addition, starting September1st, Fox is holding a contest in which fans can win autographed set photo signed by Brooks (for details, visit YoungFrankSweeps.com).
The Young Frankenstein 40th Anniversary Blu-ray is currently available for pre-ordering from Amazon for $12.98.
