Scream Factory have announced that a special edition of the ’80s horror movie Sleepaway Camp will be released in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack on May 27th.
Released in 1983, Sleepaway Camp — as you can probably surmise from the title and the genre — is about a bunch of kids who disappear while working at a summer camp. It came three years after the first Friday The 13th movie, though did not have anyone wearing sporting equipment.
Along with a movie — with is uncut and made with a new 2K scan of the original camera negative — the Sleepaway Camp Collector’s Edition also includes a new commentary by stars Felissa Rose (who played Angela) and Jonathan Tiersten (Ricky); a second new commentary by writer/director Robert Hiltzik; the original DVD’s commentary by Hiltzik and Rose; a new featurette called “At The Waterfront After The Social: The Legacy Of Sleepaway Camp” that has new interviews with Hiltzik, Rose, Tiersten, Paul DeAngelo (Ronnie), Karen Fields (Judy), Desiree Gould (Aunt Martha), Frank Saladino (Gene), and make-up FX artist Ed French; “Judy,” a short film that stars Fields; a music video for the song “Princess”; a still gallery; and the original trailers and TV spots.
It also comes with a collectible cover that’s reversible and features both the new cover art (shown above) and the original movie art.
In addition, if you pre-order from Scream Factory — which you can do here — you’ll also get a free 18×24-inch poster of the new cover art. Though they only made 300 of them, so the offers only good while supplies last, obviously.
You can also pre-order the Sleepaway Camp Collector’s Edition from Amazon for $26.94.
