Metallica have announced that their recent concert film, Through The Never, will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and as two different limited editions on January 28.
Directed by Nimród Antal,
the film mixes a loose narrative with footage the band shot at two shows in Vancouver, Canada at the end of August 2012.
Along with the film, every version will include a making-of documentary called “Making Of Metallica Through The Never” that was directed by Adam Dubin (A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica), the original trailer, a music video for “Master Of Puppets,” interviews with the cast and crew, highlights from the film tent at this year’s Orion Festival, a digital copy, and the Q&A panel at the Mill Valley Film Festival with the band, director Nimród Antal, and actor Dane Dehaan.
The 3D Blu-ray edition will also include a 3D version of the movie and a 3D lenticular cover.
In addition,
the Limited Deluxe 3D Blu-ray Set will include everything on the regular 3D Blu-ray edition as well as the 2D version of the movie, a Metallica Through The Never bandana, and a Metallica Through The Never movie poster, while the Limited Doris Edition Deluxe 3D Blu-ray — which is limited to 1000 and will be only be available to members of the band’s fan club — adds a piece of the Doris stage prop with a letter of authenticity.
The movie will also be available for both sale and rental through digital services, with the former coming with the “Making Of Metallica Through The Never” documentary.
