Paramount Home Video have announced that they’ll release The Jack Ryan Collection — a boxed set that will include the movies The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear And Present Danger, and The Sum Of All Fears — on December 3.
Besides the four films, all of which feature the titular character from the Tom Clancy novels, both the DVD and Blu-ray versions of this boxed set will include the original trailers, as well as some film-specific extras.
For 1990’s The Hunt For Red October, which featured Alec Baldwin as Ryan, the film is complimented with cast and crew interviews as well as a commentary by director John McTiernan; 1992’s Patriot Games and 1994’s Clear And Present Danger, both of which star Harrison Ford as Ryan, each have interviews with their respective cast and crews; while 2002’s The Sum Of All Fears, a prequel with Ben Affleck, has a commentary by director Phil Alden Robinson and Clancy, a second commentary by Robinson and cinematopgrapher John Lindley, a making-of featurette, and a second featurette on the special effects.
The box comes just in time to promote the fifth Ryan flick, Jack Ryan: Shadow One, which is slated to be released on December 25, and will star Chris Pine (a.k.a. Captain Kirk from Star Trek) in the title role, as well as Kiera Knightly, Kevin Costner, and Kenneth Branagh, the latter of which is also directing the film.
In the meantime, the DVD edition of The Jack Ryan Collection will retail for $29.99 while the Blu-ray version will be $49.99.
