Exclusive Interview: Toukiden Kiwami Producer Takashi Morinaka

In the action game Toukiden: The Age Of Demons, Vita owners got to track and kill fantastic creatures. Now a new version of that game, Toukiden Kiwami, is slated to bring the game’s beast stalking action to the PlayStation 4 and Vita on March 31st. But in talking to Toukiden Kiwami Producer Takashi Morinaka, it’s clear that this edition is both new and improved…and that you shouldn’t mention that other monster hunting game when you talk to him.

“Helldivers” Review

In 1997, writer and motivational speaker Richard Carlson released his now wildly popular self-help book Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff…And It’s All Small Stuff. But I really wish the good people at Arrowhead Game Studios had never read that book because it’s actually the small stuff that ruins their new game, the arcade-style, top-down, sci-fi shooter Helldivers (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Vita).

Iron & Steel Pack (Wild West Rampage, CastleStorm) For Zen Pinball 2 & Pinball FX 2 Review

It’s been three long years since Zen Studios last onade an original table for Pinball FX2 (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC), Zen Pinball 2 (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, WiiU, Mac), or Zen Pinball games (iOS, Android, Amazon Fire). But after playing the new “Wild West Rampage” table — one of two in the just-released “Iron & Steel” pack — it’s clear they haven’t lost their touch.

Kirby And The Rainbow Curse Review

Because he’s a piece of bubblegum who’s achieved sentience, Kirby is an abomination against God and nature. But as abominations go, he can sometimes be a lot of fun. At least that’s the case with Kirby And The Rainbow Curse for the WiiU, an addictive and challenging physics-based platforming puzzle game

“The Order 1886” Review

At the beginning of Annie Hall, Woody Allen’s character tells this joke: “Two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of ’em says, ‘Boy, the food at this place is really terrible.’ The other one says, ‘Yeah, I know; and such small portions.’”

Well, that’s essentially how I feel about The Order 1886, a new action game for the PlayStation 4…just in reverse.

Evolve Solo Mode Review

In the sci-fi shooter Evolve (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC), four Hunters have to track and kill a Monster controlled by a fifth player. But while, as creative director Phil Robb put it, “Evolve is indeed a multiplayer experience at its core,” he also noted, “but it’s great fun solo as well.”

Exclusive Interview: Rocket League Project Lead Thomas Silloway

At a time when new Call Of Duty and Assassin’s Creed games come out annually, it seems downright odd that it took the good people at Psyonix seven years to make a sequel to 2008’s Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. And even odder that it wouldn’t be called Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars II: Electric Boogaloo (and, of course, feature only electric cars), but that it would be called Rocket League instead. But in talking to Psyonix’s Thomas Silloway, the project lead on Rocket League — which should be out late spring or early summer —  it’s clear they’ve spent the time wisely.
